All I can say is, thanks to everyone's faith and determination, we catapulted out of the spring break matrix and bridged Soul Rebellion into a position on the calendar which we will now expand again- holiday weekends going forward will now see Soul Rebellion presentations. Lines of communication were opened to the Marleys, epic moves.
We were given a rare opportunity to present Stephen Marley, live in concert, for a special Soul Rebellion on May 23rd, Labour Day Weekend. Also on the lineup was Etana, and Iwayne, as well as Wayne Daniels and Louie Culture, with Fivestar. The night was hosted by DJs Rusti and Alizay from DC.
Lots of threats against the show were surmounted- it did not help that the 23rd was the main day of action in Kingston. Also, several potential sponsors, such as Clark's, could not commit due to serious legal issues, such as widespread and rampant trademark and rights issues. A true misuse of power and influence.
But despite it all, the show went forward. Events were cancelling all around us, but we chose to continue the trod forward.
Day of, an amazing rainbow was thrown across the Negril sky- I mean we could have used the busses coming in from town a lot more, trust me, but it was a nice gesture from the Big Guy. But seriously, next time, busses, yes, rainbow, not so much.
Plus, many tourists are not geographically savvy. To them, Kingston may as well be Sav. Despite not hitting our numbers that would enable us to perform a top bottom rebuild, we still managed to develop plenty of resources for the Orange Bay Basic School, which is the whole point of doing Soul Rebellions.
But after this last event series in March, staring at everything we delivered to the Mt. Airy School, I realized that what we were doing, although I would never not do the Buy-A-Block, it's just not enough. And for whatever reason, the powers that be see fit to remain in their static entrenched conceptualizations. Suddenly, people who should be bending over backwards to assist and do something good for the sake of doing something good, are looking for what is in it for them. It's frankly amazing, this human condition. And media. Don't get me started on media.
So the point is, if a school can not develop the funds to buy bricks for a new bathroom or library or what have you, it also can not develop the funds for the cement, the rebar, the construction....
So we wanted to just knock out one whole project per show. One School. One Show. Boom Bang.
It still remains true that the immense tourist market waltzing into Negril every month is completely untapped as regards Jamaica's major brands. Many of them think a presence at MBJ is sufficient marketing enough. Some of the brand managers know the terms of the trade, but not the concepts. Grass roots marketing is not just a term- there is nothing more grass roots than building schools in any given community and aligning oneself with the means of empowering and opportunizing that community.
Anyway.
It was time to start causing a fuss and furor on the street.
That means teasers, and tons of them.
first the art work must be developed. The process is silk screen, something we used to do in our basements, so familiarity with the process is instrumental in achieving good results, and these were bang on. Little kids were walking off with them as they lay out drying.
The original art must be broken down into individual screens, each screen is separated into 1 color- so there is a green screen, a screen for red, and a screen for black. When ink is passed through each screen, applied separately, eventually the image comes together.

that's the original art.
here is the complete teaser:

and this is how it comes together:

each board is aligned under the screens. each screen as mentioned represents a pass of ink with one color.
